The Tall poppy syndrome really does exits in our Haitian community.
Maybe a little too much. I have seen what this type of hatred can do to people.
Its not only badmouthing someone that is more successful, people have gone as far as to kill someone else because they are more successful.
This type of hatred in my opinion, is the main reason why Haiti will never unite as a nation.

You know, its really unfortunate but true. I've realized that certain Haitians, not just Haitians but blacks, period has this syndrome.
We have been taught to hate ourselves because we've been treated that way. Some of us hate others we see that are successful because we're lacking success ourselves and we hate ourselves for it, therefore we reflect what we truly feel about ourselves upon others.
Furthermore, we've been forced to think that other groups are better than us...
so we take that mentally...
we get jealous instead of proud of our own people.
Food for thought.

Hi Woodring!
This is jacques alex from Montreal
First of all i want to apologize to you after receiving so many Email from you due to lack of time it was not possible for me to answer you but today i've made up my mind to do it so let's get it started.
Congratulations to you even if it is a hard task to inform and educate people in our community.
There's a slogan you used a couple days ago if i'm right saying that " yap palé nap travail " this one can be the beginning of my reply topic today.
The tall poppy syndrome have been in our community for generation.
Becoming successful in life takes to any person efforts, steps and level.
Once you put that word in your mind you work it out and at the end the fruitful passionate effect you'll be getting will be such personal.
Contrary to badmouthing tendency it's an illness in the Haitian community from certain person .
People should learn to shield yourself to guard it against those badmouthing destroyers and don't look back because there's so many rewards waiting for you
Respect for you Woodring Cé pa lè ou mouri pou peuple la ka rekonait travail ou ap fè la non.
